Metal Smorgasbord at Bourbon Street
Krissy Knudson - November 25, 2003

Bourbon Street Bar and Grill

-- Around 70 people came to Bourbon Street Bar and Grill in Concord to head-bang and groove to the five bands that were to hit the stage. Bourbon Street, an age 21-plus venue, is currently under new management and will book some 18 years and older shows beginning February of next year - good news for the kids who had to miss this powerful show or any like it.

Spectators had their choice of everything from shredding guitars and screaming vocals to rap and hip-hop melodies as Lica Sto, Up-N-Down, Displace, The Venting Machine and Thr3efold took the stage throughout the night.

Next was Thr3efold, a powerful trio also out of the Central Valley, that includes Jayson (vocals/guitar), Jimbo (bass), and Chuck (drums). This band hit on-lookers full force with a 30-minute set with songs off their five-song EP that features "Respect" and "No One." Jayson didn't skip a note as he ripped it up on guitar and hit the crowd hard with his strong vocals as Jimbo blew us away on his seven-string bass. The band topped off their set with the ever-so-popular song "Stick in the Mud".

Fans have something to look forward to as Thr3efold goes into the studio to record around Christmas time. The band hopes to release a new album in the beginning of 2004.
